Thistle again had to settle for a share of the points when Dundee battled back.
The game took a while to settle with Dundee first to threaten after ten minute when Fabian Caballero saw his shot well saved by Kenny Arthur.
Thistle's first real chance came after 14 minutes when Alex Burns' 20-yard free-kick was turned past the post by Julian Speroni.
By now Thistle were beginning to dominate the game with Stephen Craigan's long throws causing the Dundee defence problems, but Burns was unable to finish good chances after 21 and 24 minutes.
Pressure continued to mount on the Dundee defence and it finally cracked after 42 minutes, when Burns played a square pass to Jamie Mitchell who was able to round Speroni and tap into an empty net. At this point Dundee were unable to pose any real threat to the Thistle goal after their early promise.
It took Dundee only four minutes of the second half to equalise, when Caballero laid the ball back to Gavin Rae who shot home from ten yards out.
Jamie Buchan almost restored Thistle's lead on 51minutes, when his 30-yard shot beat Speroni but not the post. The woodwork saved Dundee again after 64 minutes when Burns connected with an Alan Archibald cross, but his powerful header hit the crossbar and was cleared to safety.
Thistle had Arthur to thank after 70 minutes when he blocked a Juan Sara shot from point-blank range. Neither side was prepared to settle for a draw and both sides had chances to score late on.
As a last throw of the dice Thistle introduced fans favourite Chic Charnley, but it made no difference, with the game finishing one apiece.
Dundee will go home the happier side after claiming a precious away point
