Kilmarnock came from behind to defeat Dundee 4-2 in a six-goal thriller at Rugby Park.
Dundee’s Nacho Novo needed only six minutes to announce his return to action following compassionate leave. Mark Fotheringham's simple long ball cleared the home defence and Novo raced clear of Barry McLaughlin to calmly roll the ball past Colin Meldrum and into the net.
Stevie Murray looked lively in the early stages, rippling the side netting from 20 yards before sending over an inviting cross in the 10th minute which fell to Danny Invincible, but the Australian's snapshot was straight at Julian Speroni.
Kilmarnock were unlucky on the half hour mark when Jamie Fowler's goal-bound effort was blocked by a defensive head, and David Lilley could make nothing of the rebound.
Dundee's influential captain Barry Smith hobbled off in the 30th minute, and before his side could re-organise, Killie struck. Fowler's chipped cross fell perfectly for Eric Skora, who belied the evident lack of confidence in his side by calmly side footing into the far corner of the net.
The goal lifted the home side and, like the last home game against Partick Thistle, Killie followed up the first goal with a second within two minutes.
Again Fowler's delivery caused the problem for Dundee as his cross spun into the air and fell perfectly for Danny Invincible to volley home from close range.
Invincible missed a sitter late in the first half after Speroni's great save from Boyd's header, while Novo also passed up a golden chance as he shot wide of a glaring goal.
Steven Milne also wasted two chances to equalise early in the second half after finding space at the far post, his header from Jonay Hernandez's cross rebounding from the foot of the post.
It was Killie who scored the first goal of a pulsating second half as Invincible broke from halfway. He skipped past Mair and had rounded Speroni before the keeper hauled him down. It was an easy decision for Hugh Dallas and Kris Boyd stroked the perfect penalty low into the corner.
Dundee struck back quickly, Milne making up for his earlier misses as he was again left free at the far post to tuck the ball home.
Killie snuffed the fight-back out two minutes later as the Dens defence was posted missing to allow Invincible to score his second as he latched on to Boyd's flick.
