A second-half double from Steve Crawford added to Dundee's woes, as the Scotland striker scored twice in 13 minutes to give Dunfermline all three points.
Dundee started well and it took a frantic clearance from Scott Wilson to prevent them cashing in after Juan Sara had sent a header across the face of the goal.
Fabian Caballero was then just inches away with a back-post header, which deceived Derek Stillie but floated wide of target.
Ravanelli then forced a great save from Stillie after taking a return pass from Caballero, but the goalkeeper managed to divert it for a corner.
Dunfermline hit back and a shot from Steve Crawford flashed across the face of the goal with Julian Speroni left exposed.
The Dark Blues then had a penalty claim dismissed by referee Steve Conroy when Scott Thomson bumped into Sara in the area after 28 minutes.
Dunfermline stepped it up towards half-time, but their final ball often let them down and it was goalless at the break.
But Crawford settled it with a terrific double-strike early in the second half.
He raced onto a David Grondin throughball to crash a superb shot past Speroni for the opener after 52 minutes.
Then, 12 minutes later, he left the goalkeeper helpless again when he headed in a Barry Nicholson free-kick.
Darren Young should have grabbed a third in the closing stages. but shot straight at Speroni.
