Dundee Stroll To Victory

Last updated : 07 April 2002 By Paul Walker
After reading the morning papers yesterday it was a relief to just have Juan Sara in the starting line up and thank God he was.

You could see that Sara wants to inflict as much damage to defences before he departs to pastures new in the summer.

Dundee had failed to beat Killie at Dens since 1999 but this was all about to change yesterday.

Sara was Dundee's biggest sinner in the first half as he missed on no more than three occasions with only the keeper to beat. But he eventually found the net when Artero made a lovely run and fine cross,  and the finish from Sara was finer.

Killie seemed stunned by the goal and couldnt seem to find a way into the game. Though it never looked as though they would ever find a way past big Lee Wilkie anyway.

Half Time Summary -

Dundee looking good and I only wish we could have played like this earlier in the season and had Sara converted his chances we would be well up.

Dundee made it two just three minutes into the second half.
Beto's corner was headed on By big Lee Wilkie and Milne nodded home from point blank range.
Sara looked as though he might add another couple to his tally but the big mans luck just wasnt really in today.

Speroni had a comfortable game and only had really had to deal with an effort by Ngonge which didnt seem to trouble him too much.

Lee Wilkie Against Killie Last Season
Kilmarnock tried hard to get back in the game as Dundee sat back, but there was no way past Wilkie who was my man of the match.

Dave Mackay also looked good when he made a fantastic sliding tackle to prevent a chance from Killie.

Summing up

Comfortable win for Dundee but you have to ask yourself how many points might we have won this year had Lee Wilkie been at the heart of our defence. He's fantastic in the air, good on the ground and marshalls our defence brilliantly. Has all the aspects of a future club captain.
