Dundee and Livingston fought out a 0-0 draw with very few chances in a game dominated by the windy conditions.
Colin McMenamin had the game's first shot at goal but his 25 yard effort was easily saved by Dundee goalkeeper Derek Soutar with six minutes gone.
Ten minutes later Dundee midfielder Neil Barrett headed Callum McDonald's right-wing cross just over the cross bar.
Burton O'Brian came close to breaking the deadlock on 18 minutes when he gathered a throughball from midfield just inside the Dundee box but his effort from 15 yards struck Derek Soutar's left hand post and rebounded into the arms off the Dundee goalie.
A great midfield pass from Iain Anderson found Steve Lovell in space on the left side of the Livingston box but his low drive was blocked by the legs of Roddy McKenzie and the danger was cleared.
Just before the interval a cross from the left by Stephen Robb was headed just past the post by John Sutton under pressure from Alan Kernaghan.
Midway through the second half a free-kick to the back post by Anderson was touched back across goal by McDonald to Bobby Mann and only a great interception by McKenzie prevented a certain goal.
A diving header from Craig Easton with six minutes remaining was not far away from the target and a minute later Anderson shot just over after a good play by Dundee substitute Glen Atle Larsen.
As both teams went in search of the winner, the game ended in controversy when with one minute to go both teams were reduced to ten men. Steve Lovell chased the ball back and won in fairly from McNamee but the Livingston player tugged at the shirt of Lovell and a silly skirmish broke out between the two and as both were cautioned early on, referee Hugh Dallas produced second yellows followed by red cards.
In time added on Dundee won a free-kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the Livingston box but failed to trouble to the visitors and the game ended 0-0.
