YA BEAUTY!

As predicted several days ago Lee Wilkie has now signed an extension to his contract making him a Dundee player until 2006. A slight miscalculation was made in saying he would sign for a further 2 years. He has, in fact, signed for a further 3 years as his old contract was up at the end of next season.

Despite strong interest shown by English Premier side Manchester City the club and the player have obviously decided it would be in the interests of this emerging talent to stay at Dens Park.

Whether he will still be here by 2006 I very much doubt, but as stated before Lee has shown loyalty to Dundee and is ready and willing to further himself in the game by doing it in his home city of Dundee. If he continues to show the improvement he has made in such a short time he could be worth a fortune in another season or two.

Berti Vogts, the revolutionary new Scotland manager, who actually caps players before they reach near retirement age, and has no stigma against non Old Firm players, was very impressed by big Lee and his faults have been pointed out. He was told to return to Dens Park and ask for extra training to work on these weaknesses. I know he's been doing just that.

Let's hope this is the beginning of more good news to come our way in the weeks ahead. Well done, Lee, I know you read the websites, thanks for giving us something to cheer about. Rest assured the Tayzurri will not be slow to forget such loyalty.
