Farningham was replaced by Gerry McCabe as Paul Hartley’s No 2 in the summer and has since been overseeing the club’s junior sides.
A club statement read: “All of us at Dundee would like to thank Ray for his efforts on and off the park. As a former player and manager of staff he will always be welcome back at Dens Park.”
