DUNDEE FC ADMINISTRATOR PLEDGES TO BATTLE ON
The administrators of Dundee FC, accountants and business advisers PKF have praised the effort of the team, fans and community alike but have warned that there is still some way to go to save the club.
Bryan Jackson, corporate recovery partner with PKF, believes that the fund raising activities of the supporters have been outstanding since the club was put into administration on the 14th October but that the effort needs to continue over the next four to five weeks.
As Bryan explained: “The response of the fans, the community, and the city of Dundee has been unbelievable over the last month and they should be justly proud of what they have achieved in such a short time. My only concern is that the clock is still ticking and I want to encourage everyone to maintain their fund raising activities over the next month. The supporters trust has made an outstanding effort in raising a total of £130,000 to date. However this needs to be doubled to reach our target. A business trust has also recently met to discuss ways to raise funds so it is clear the fans and the community remain committed. It is hoped that the business trust will match the total amount to be raised by the supporters.”
“There have been a number of technical and organisational issues which have arisen over the last few weeks related to the administration and we are working our way through these. We are also continuing to work on the appeal against the 25 point deduction imposed by the SFL. Rod McKenzie of lawyers Harper McLeod LLP, a well known figure in advising on Scottish football, has provided us with some excellent advice on pursuing our case against the SFL decision.”
Bryan concluded: “The team’s performance on the pitch has matched the outstanding performance of the fans off the pitch. However, I want to emphasize that the continued support of the team, the fans and the city is still essential to ensure the future survival of the club. Given the financial climate we live in the response to date has been incredible but we still need more if the club is to have a realistic chance of survival.”
