The board of DFCSS is delighted that the second of our two representatives on the board of DFC has now been appointed.
It will be recalled that our agreement with DFC was that we would nominate a Fans’ Representative of our own choice - Colin Reid being the man we subsequently put forward - while our second representative would be required to match a skill set to suit the DFC board. Having been informed that the DFC board wanted an architect, we met with life-long Dark Blues supporter Bob Hynd.
For the last 30 years Bob has carried out, on a voluntary basis, a range of architectural work required by the club, and our meeting was to determine if it would be in our mutual interests for him to join our board and also join the board of DFC as our second representative. That meeting left us in no doubt!
Bob and Gillie earlier this season
Bob has been attending matches at Dens on a regular basis since the mid 1960s. He very rarely misses home games and at one time went a full six years without missing a match home or away. The voluntary work he has already carried out includes the creation of various lounges within the main stand, the gymnasium, club shop, re-cladding of the main stand, installation of pitch drainage systems, etc. and he is currently working on a number of projects such as upgrading toilets, indoor training facilities and various proposals relating to the soccer academy. He was married in the Boardroom at Dens Park by the club chaplain and is one of the largest individual shareholders in the club.
Bob, who previously served on the DFC board of directors for a number of years, is the Senior Partner with one of the largest architects firms in Tayside. Over the years he has donated money to the Society to assist in reaching its target shareholding and has contributed towards players wages, and he currently assists the club through player sponsorship and advertising. He has also sat on the organising committees for the Hall of Fame, and in particular helped organise the successful 50th Anniversary Dinner in the Caird Hall.
He has a keen interest in the work of the Society and an enthusiasm for our ideals and he is fully prepared to commit such time to our board as we would ask of him. Following our meeting he was nominated to the DFC board as our second representative and is keen to stand for election to the DFCSS board at the forthcoming AGM.
Bob is keen to ensure that the current administration stays on track and is committed to playing an active part in the Society’s role in ensuring that the club has a stable and positive future.
