It was the very last minute i decided to take the trip to take in the alba cup,as it was one of the few grounds i hadn't been to.
Within minutes it was plain to see that it was going to be one of those nights,Dundee never looked comfortable on the wet plastic pitch,no excuses however we simply were not at the races.
Stenhousemuir however were used to the pitch and played to their strenghs and if the truth be told were well worth their victory, weras we played football for about 10 minutes in total out of the regulation 90minutes,which just isn't good enough at any level.
In the first half stenhousemuir cruised to a 2.0 lead and on reflection it really could have been 4.0,Dundee were in disaray and looked like they would concede a goal everytime Stenhousemuir attacked.
The second half was much the same as the first, although Leigh Griffiths scored with an angled drive from the edge of the box and Craig Forsyth was unlucky when he saw his shot from 18 yards well saved from Stenhousemuirs goal keeper,However Stenhousemuir added two further goals in the second half, one of which was from about 25 yards and Fox really should have dealt with it much better.
So 4.1 Stenhousemuir at full time and beleive me when i say it could have been an awful lot worse, infact had the score been 7.2 then i doubt any of the travelling support would have felt any worse.
Give credit where credit is due and hope we never have to play in this cup competition ever again.
