Unless Real Madrid don't know the nationality of their players Jonay Miguel Hernandez, born in Maignetia, Caracas, Venezuela, has signed for Dundee on a 3 year contract. The Telegraph seem hell bent on saying he is a Spaniard and 21, the Real Madrid site states quite clearly the player who played for their B team in a lower Spanish division is 23, born on 15/3/79. Unless there were two players with the same name he is most definitely Venezuelan.
This will please any Dundee fan present at the Preston game as his sweet left foot, the wee stab that sends the ball hovering in mid air, accurately delivered to the head of waiting attackers, was the most delightful part of his game. That and his overlapping down the left, which saw him as much an attacker as some of our midfield players shows what path Duffy wants to take this team down. He has to be respected for this at least.
Those who have criticised JD for being too defensive should bear in mind he has played with 3 up front in his two home friendlies. The best means of defence is attack and I hope we'll still see entertainment in the season ahead with more goals than last season. Jonay's signing is the best news of the week as I thought he was a class act.
