One of the partnerships blossoming with Dundee FC Supporters' Society as part of their community initiatives is with local scheme DUNCAN, where child safety in our city is the focus. As part of the Family Fun Day at Dens tomorrow, Duncan and Daisy will join Deewok to meet the kids and their families, handing out not only stickers and balloons, but an important message about keeping our children safe.
The DUNCAN (Dundee Coordinated Anticrime Network) scheme was launched in 2003 as part of Safer Cities Initiatives throughout Scotland. "Little and Lost" is one part of the DUNCAN scheme, a scheme to help keep children safe whilst out shopping in the city centre. Wristbands can be collected from the Overgate guest service area and the responsible adult puts their phone number on the wristband so the child cannot be identified in any way.
Morag Beattie, DUNCAN Scheme Co-ordinator said, "I have already worked closely with Dundee Football Club in respect of polycarbonate glassware in all their lounges as kids are allowed in there, with the feedback from the club saying that they think these glasses are great for kids' safety.
"This Sunday shows that DFC and DFCSS continually think of the safety of all patrons but particularly children, who you want to enjoy the football as much as their parents - it's a great initiative. I am delighted to be working with DFC once again on another great initiative, a club truly at the forefront of community issues."
Dundee FC Supporters' Society and Dundee Football Club look forward to welcoming Duncan and Daisy to Dens on Sunday.
