Part 3 (of 3) of the minutes from Saturday's meeting are now available below (split into 2 posts) and on our website.
We had hoped to bring you the Q&A at the same time but it has taken an little longer than anticipated to type up. The Q&A will be therefore be online this evening.
Society Director and Dundee FC Chairman Stuart Murphy opened part 3 of the meeting, in which he would talk about how ownership became a reality, by stating that his address would be brief as time was tight, whilst also asking those present to focus on the questions to hand, and not to get sidetracked with other issues, which – acknowledging that they had a time and a place – should be left for another day.
Turning to Club matters, Stuart said “The fact that I’m standing up today addressing you all in my privileged capacity as Chairman of Dundee Football Club should remind everyone of how far we’ve travelled in such a short space of time in terms of a unified group of fans. You now have 3 representatives on the club board rather than the single rep position previously and you now have the Chairman position. There is a clear message there and one you should not underestimate in terms of the influence and representation.
Stuart continued with a stark message on the goodwill and reputational damage the Club has suffered; “Firstly the community question – please do not underestimate the indifference and animosity this Club is subjected to because of its past. In my role I see it most weeks and we have many bridges to build and it will take a long time. Actively engaging the community will, through time, go a long way to doing that and actually, do you know what? It’s the right thing to do anyway. For a lot of people, the football club is the centre of the community. People live for their football. For their club to be accessible or for it to be interacting only once a fortnight would be remiss in our social responsibility, I think.
