It’s been a busy time since my last Chairman’s update. The AGM came and went in November. I was pleased with the way it turned out and felt that the Society got the organisation just right on the day. There was a healthy turn out, the accounts and reports were all signed off and there was a good Question and Answer session afterwards. The AGM also saw Ian Baird and Bob Hynd elected onto the Society board, bringing with them a wealth of business experience.
The first meeting after the AGM saw Carol Findlay co-opted as the new Financial Director. At this meeting we also discussed ways of getting Society information out to those not online. One of the areas we’re looking at is utilising noticeboards around the stadium, and we’ll have more news on this in due course. Dave Forbes also volunteered to do a Society update at Dundee FC Seniors Supporters Club meetings, so I’m certain measures such as these will help get our news and information out to a wider community of Dundee fans.
Around this same time the planning started for the Junior Dees’ Christmas Party, and also for the annual players’ visit to the kids with the misfortune of being in hospital at the festive season.
Towards the end of November myself and other Society Directors were invited to attend a Dark Blues Business Trust meeting, which focused mainly on discussing potential options to buy back Dens Park. It’s very early days, however the Trust’s investigations and feasibility appraisals appear to be making good progress and there is a huge will within the Dundee FC community for this to happen. Further meetings will take place in the coming months, at which it is hoped a viable proposal will be presented to the Society for consideration.
