boardroom catch up

Continuing our catch-up on Boardroom Hospitality guests from last season, we move on to Dundee's 3-1 win over Falkirk on Saturday 7th April, when Gold/Platinum monthly draw winner Bill Sime and his wife Carol were guests of Director Fraser MacDonald.  A great result on the park was equalled by an enjoyable afternoon off it.

Bill told us "We had a marvellous day at Dens and managing a great win against Falkirk was the icing on the cake.  Carol and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality from start to finish.  It has only taken me 58 years to get inside the boardroom at Dens!!!
 
"Fraser was an excellent host and we felt completely at home in both the boardroom and director's box. We managed to speak to Pat Liney, Ronnie McIntosh and even Steven Pressley!!"

Fraser added "it was a pleasure to welcome Bill and Carol into the Boardroom and I'm glad they enjoyed their afternoon.  The Club and the Society really appreciate their continued backing through the Gold membership package and we're delighted to be able to offer a bit of match day hospitality as a prize in the monthly draw, it's an opportunity to give the lucky winners something a bit extra and thank them for their support."

We've still a few Boardroom guests to catch up on from last season, so apologies to those concerned for the wait in publishing these.  On Saturday 24th March for Dundee's home game v Raith Rovers, Grant Anderson and Ian Stark were guests of Scott Glenday in the Boardroom.  Grant won the prize through our Gold/Platinum members monthly draw.

Whilst Scott was disappointed for Grant and Ian that we didn't manage a win on the park (the game finished 1-1), they didn't let it spoil their day.  Grant told us "thank you from Ian and myself for the excellent hospitality we received in the boardroom at Dens.  It was a great day out and really brings home the heritage of our club when you see the 'family heirlooms' on the boardroom walls".  Scott added "I've known Grant for many years through his early involvement with the Capital Dark Blues, he's been supportive of our efforts as a Football Trust since the early Dee4Life days.  I also remember playing against him on the hallowed turf around the mid eighties in a game between the Edinburgh and Bowbridge Supporters Clubs."

Playing catch-up with the Boardroom Hospitality from last season, we've a few to get through that have been hanging around the archives for a bit.  First up, on Tuesday 10th April at Dundee's game v Queen of the South, and guests of Scott Glenday (Society Chairman and DFC Director at the time) were local supporters Club the Charlie Cooke Dark Blues.  They were represented at the game by father and son, Charlie Duthie Senior and Junior.

Post-match, Scott said "I'd like to offer huge thanks to both of them and their Supporters' Club, the Charlie Cooke Dark Blues, both are top lads, loyal supporters and great company.  Charlie Snr, as well as being a fan, is on the committee of the supporters of the club and is also a Director of Tay Taxis, a company who have supported the Club and the Society for many years.

"Young Charlie is a real down to earth guy for being the local celebrity he is.  He also gives up his time at home games spinning the discs and making the match day announcements over the tannoy along with Stewart Brand who is trackside.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Adam and Andrew also at Wave, they too have supported the Club and Society and I want them to know it’s been very much appreciated.  The number of supporters clubs we have is fantastic for a Club our size, as a group and as individuals the Charlie Cooke certainly play their part, big thanks to all their members including George and Billy, they would murder me if I didn't give them a mention !"

Charlie Jnr told us "It was a tremendous touch to be invited into the boardroom and I felt very humbled seeing our club's amazing history on display."
