Despite all the speculation centring around the new management duo at Tannadice Jim Duffy picked up the Manager of the Month award for January. Selected by a panel of journalists this is the first time a Dundee Manager has gained this award since Jocky Scott's days at Dens.

JD has a strong pool of players to choose from. Jonay Hernandez is still sidelined, as is Tom Hutchinson. Although top scorer Steve Lovell is fit and ready it might be that lack of match practice could rule him out for today's derby. The same goes for Beto Carranza who is in full time training once more but needs games under his belt. Both could feature against Celtic in Monday night's Under-21 game at Dens.
The big question today is whether Jim will play 3 strikers up front or revert to the 4-4-2 which was so successful against both Partick in the cup and Dunfermline at East End Park, both fixtures won away from home.
Also, will he start Mark Burchill or stick by the combination of Milne, Novo and Caballero that looked so promising in the Hibs match before the elements put paid to that one.
Whatever the team selection a win for Dundee would see them climb closer to Hibs and Kilmarnock in the top 6 and open up an 11 point gap between them and Dundee United at the bottom with a game in hand.
