heres a report of yesterdays match at dens

DUNDEE boss Gordon Chisholm believes this convincing win proves the Dens Park players are hurting just as much as the fans after losing the race for promotion On an day that saw 10-man Raith live to fight another season in the First Division, goals from Sean Higgins and Gary Harkins gave Dundee a comfortable win as they tried to ease their mid-week heartache.

Chisholm was pleased his players responded to midweek criticism from him and director Calum Melville and believes the result is proof the squad still care about the club.

He said: "There have been a lot of things said during the week and a lot of disappointment so to win sends a message that it does matter to the players and that it does hurt. If the boys had gone out and shown a lack of effort they'd have known all about it."

The hosts edged in front after 52 minutes when Higgins planted a 20-yard free kick over the wall and into the top corner.leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

And it was game over 13 minutes later when Brian Kerr and Colin McMenamin combined to set up Higgins for a shot which Mark Ferry handled. He was booked and Harkins buried the spot kick to add to his impressive goal tally for this  season.

Raith's David Armstrong then walked late on after picking up two bookings.
