Dundee Bring Home Curtain Down

This afternoon Dundee entertain Clyde at Dens Park in the final home league game of the most dismal season in the club's history.

In the dugout will be Gordon Wallace as co-managers for a week Bobby Mann and Barry Smith will be out on the park trying to help get only the 9th league win of the season in the 35th match.

They are up against a Clyde side brought together before the season began by a series of adverts and trials and who are currently 11 points and 19 goals better off than the Dark Blues despite being the only team from this league who have not beaten us this season (Stranraer beat us in the legue cup).

It should be a home farewell for a few of the players who will not be at the club next season with any luck.

It is entirely possible that neither of todays management duo will still be at Dens come the new season and this would therefore be their managerial debut and playing farewell at the same time. Barry Smith is out of contract and has yet to agree terms to extend his 10 year stay while Bobby Mann is continually linked with move away to an SPL club.

Of the players on their way these two and Simon Lynch would likely leave with the best wishes of the majority of the fans while the others can't be shifted out quick enough.

It's a little difficult to get excited about such a meaning less game today but one ray of hope is that Alan Kernaghan and Billy Kirkwood have now gone and a change of manager usually gives a little boost, well it happens to every team who plays against us anyaway!

Entry to todays game is only £8 and £2 for concessions with season ticket holders (if they kept their books after the Brechin match) able to bring a friend for free. Some friend!!

The home curtain will be brought down at around 4.45pm today and after we play in Dumfries against Queen of the South next week we will enter another summer of uncertainty.

Hopefully it will also be a summer of change at the top of the club and we can enter the 2006/2007 season with renewed optimism and without the Marrs.
