Dundee 1 Livingstone 3

A very strong Livingstone side were just too experienced and powerful for a young Dundee team. Jamie Langfield and Beto Carranza aside Dundee fielded an entirely Under-21 side. Livingstone gave run outs to Goalkeeper David Jamieson, Davie Bingham, Francisco Quino, Eugene Dadi, Rolando Zarate and Cheriff Toure Marman.

Faced with such experience the youthful Dundee side were always going to be up against it. They were 1-0 down by the interval with few chances coming Dundee's way, though Beto Carranza looked fit and well, showing glimpses of his rare genius.

Straight from the second half kick off Livvy went up the park and scored with not a tackle coming in from any Dundee player.

Colin Boylan reduced the deficit for Dundee, then Jason Walker was clean through on the goalkeeper only to dally and allow McEwan to come out and knock the ball away from his feet.

Dundee paid dearly for this miss and Livvy added to their score soon after to make it 3-1. Jason Walker then missed a penalty kick with 15 minutes remaining, McEwan diving brilliantly to his left to save.

It was a very entertaining match and some of the play, particularly from Livvy, was a treat to watch. Dadi, Maman, McMenamen and Quino were a joy to behold. For Dundee Carranza (in flashes), Boylan and Beith caught the eye, and though young Jason Walker, 18 years old, had a nightmare in front of goal he has a good touch and is one to watch for the future.

Earlier today I also took in Dundee Under-13's against their local rivals Dundee United. The tangerines ran out 4-1 winners in this one though Dundee led 1-0 at one point. In the Under-14's match between the same teams Dundee won 3-2 after leading 3-0 at one point. Both games took place this afternoon at Gussie Park and produced a lot of entertainment.
